Sandwich Tern

A Sandwich Tern with food for its young.

This is one of the species which no longer breeds in Roskilde Fjord. In the first years of our survey a few pairs were found in the Black-headed Gull colony on the tiny islet north of Øksneholm. This was rather unusual. The Sandwich Tern breeds mainly by the sea, and the colonies are usually significantly bigger.
