Lesser Black-backed Gull
(Larus fuscus).
This gull’s main distinguishing feature is its yellow legs.
In the late 1990s the Lesser Black-backed Gull began to breed on Øksneholm and since then it has bred there more or less regularly. A couple of years later it also appeared on Jyllinge Holme and there too it breeds almost regularly. These birds are not recorded in October and January as they winter in the Mediterranean.
The Lesser Black-backed Gull is very similar to the Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus), but is smaller and has yellow legs.
