Dunlin
(Calidris alpina).
A Dunlin on mudflats.
The Dunlin has occasionally been found breeding on Eskilsø, Øksneholm and Bolund. Otherwise, it is generally seen in small flocks during the spring migration. In the autumn it can be seen in slightly bigger flocks in Bløden, Eskilsø and Øksneholm. The numbers vary widely as they only spend time on the fjord if low water creates open mud flats. As Dunlin often spend only a short time on the fjord the number of birds passing through during migration is much greater than the counts imply. Their presence in winter is very much dependent on the weather.
