ROSKILDE FJORD

Broadnosed Pipefish

(Syngnathus typhle).

Pipefish are most often found in the northern part of the fjord, where they live in the underwater plants near the coast. They are not migratory and live out their whole life in the fjord. This distinctive and easily recognised species is often found, together with sticklebacks, by terns’ nests, as it is part of the male tern’s courtship menu.
